Film Footage Reproduction Fee Schedule
Broadcast quality duplicate copies of original film footage in the RMS-Republic.com's collection are available in Betacam SP, 3/4" video master, or 1" video master formats. All duplicate copies are provided on loan for a period of thirty (30) days.
VHS reference use copies are also available for a thirty (30) day loan at a cost of $50.00 per cassette. These VHS copies are loaned for study and selection purposes only and may not be reproduced, broadcast, or shown to audiences. Copy footage in other formats is not available for personal research use.
Turn-Around Time:
- Standard Service: The normal turn-around time for a VHS or Production Ready Copy is 2 weeks from receipt of the completed and signed Film Footage/Letter of Agreement with payment to the time we ship the order. However because Production Ready copies must be sent off site for copying, turn around time may vary depending on the workload of our supplier.
- Expedited Service: The turn-around time for VHS orders is five working days from receipt of the completed and signed Film Footage/Letter of Agreement and payment to the time we ship the order. Production ready formats, e.g. Beta Cam, can usually be completed in the same turn around time however again, because Production Ready copies must be sent off site for copying, turn around time may vary depending on the workload of our supplier. EXPEDITED SERVICE IS 50% MORE THAN THE APPROPRIATE USE FEE FOR STANDARD SERVICE.
- Overnight Service: Because Production Ready copies must be sent off site for copying, turn around time may vary depending on the workload of our supplier. When available, OVERNIGHT SERVICE IS TWICE THE APPROPRIATE USE FEE FOR STANDARD SERVICE AND ADD $25 OVERNIGHT SHIPPING CHARGES (OR PROVIDE US WITH YOUR SHIPPING ACCOUNT NUMBER).
Transfer and Use Fees:
- Transfer Fees: RMS-Republic.com maintains broadcast quality masters of its film footage on 60 minute Betacam SP tape. Each tape contains several pieces of footage. When a patron requests a copy of a particular piece of footage we will duplicate the entire tape. This allows us to provide the footage required in the most economical fashion. The particular footage on the tape which the patron is authorized to use will be clearly specified in the Letter of Agreement. Use of any other footage on the tape is not permitted unless a new Letter of Agreement is completed. The costs to transfer each piece of footage/tape is as follows:

- Use Fees: Are calculated in 60 seconds, or part thereof, of on-screen time (60 second minimum charge). The cost per 60 seconds of air time depends on product distribution (see chart below).
- Basic rights quoted provide a ONE-TIME non-exclusive use of the image (s) in one product distributed in one format/medium in one language in North America.
- Extended rights provide the Basic rights plus worldwide distribution in multiple language in one format/medium.
- Two Formats/Media Distribution provide either Basic or Extended distribution rights in two formats/media for the use/product specified.
- Multiple Formats/Media Distribution provide either Basic or Extended distribution rights in multiple formats/media for the use/product specified.

- Editorial Use in Film/Video, Broadcast, or Electronic Media, Exhibition Use, Public Lectures, Classroom Instruction, or Business Presentations. Editorial Use is usually considered a use within legitimate mass media, presumed to be unbiased, which reaches a large, anonymous audience. "Anonymous" is defined as available to anyone in the coverage area. "Large" is vague, but an audience of 2,000 is often cited as a minimum. The medium may carry advertising. Customarily Acceptable Editorial Uses include the following:
- News, Documentaries and Feature Stories which are associated with the image(s) used.
- News, Documentaries and Feature Stories which are associated with the image(s) used.
- Internet (Web) Webcasts and Feature Stories which are associated with the image(s) used.
- Stories on topic.
- Advertising or other Non-Editorial Use in Film/Video, Broadcast, or Electronic Media. Advertising or other Non-Editorial Use is the for-profit usage or inclusion of an image to promote, or influence public opinion, of a product, service or idea. Typical Advertising or other Non-Editorial Uses include the following:
This use is approved on a case-by-case basis.
- Television Advertising.
- Theater Advertising.
- Internet Webcast Advertising and Web Page Spots.
- Commercial Use, when the image is the product, including CD's, DVD's and other distributable media. This use is approved on a case-by-case basis.
